Interested in joining Choir 17?

Hello!  Welcome to the Choir 17 community.  Our Spring term is now in full flow and we are merrily and musically preparing for our NEXT GIG which will also be our first proper public outing!  Very exciting times.  Stay tuned for more details…

In order to make sure we can welcome you at the best possible time, we will now be open to new members from next term, which will start at CentrE17 on Wednesday 25th April 2018 (7-8.30pm).  We already have a few people on the list waiting to join at that point and will be limited in space so if you are keen to get involved please drop us a line via the join us page.

Looking for a new, fun challenge in 2018?

It’s the first day of the new year and we couldn’t be more excited!  Not only do we have lots more lovely singing to look forward to but we also have a couple of spaces available to welcome new members.  Woohoo!  If you’re interested in joining us please come along at 7pm on Wed 3rd Jan to CentrE17, Church Hill (behind Central Parade near Walthamstow Central).  We couldn’t think of a better New Year’s Resolution than singing – it’s fun, engaging, sociable and a hugely rewarding challenge.  Plus it’s proven to be great for you. 2017 – that’s a wrap!

Our 2017 Autumn (and inaugural) term came to an end on Wednesday 13th Dec with much fun and warmth, and beautiful singing of course! We celebrated Christmas with a little party for our nearest and dearest, where we also performed our first two songs, ‘Manic Monday’ and ‘Put a Little Love in Your Heart’.  The choir sang wonderfully and have accomplished so much in their first couple of months together.  Not only have they got to grips with choral singing but they’ve already become a lively and lovely group of friends, too.  To hear some snippets from the evening, head over to the Choir 17 Facebook page.  See y’all in 2018! Festive Fun & Music (Event)… and the Christmas break

We are excited to be putting the finishing touches on our first couple of songs ahead of sharing them at next week’s festive event.  Come along on 13th Dec at 7pm, CentrE17, to hear what we’ve been working on and share some festive cheer.  And FOOD.

13th Dec will be our last meeting of 2017 but Choir 17 WILL RETURN IN 2018!  We’ll be meeting every Wednesday at CentrE17 from 3rd Jan, 7pm-8.30pm, and will have some spaces for new members open.  New year is a great time to join, we’ll be learning some brand new songs and choir singing is the best way to shake off those January blues.  We’re an open, friendly and non-auditioned group, so if you’d like to sound great and feel great, simply turn up on 3rd Jan or get in touch.

First rehearsal!

What an amazing night!  Around 50 fab people came along: from the first moment it was obvious that this was a lovely and lively group, ready to learn and ready to have fun.  We did some fun little icebreakers, a little bit of singing technique and lots of laughing – then we learnt the first section of our first song.  The choir nailed the three part harmonies, and sang with soul and attitude.  I couldn’t have asked for more – what an exciting journey we are on! Sign up list for week 1 now closed!

Tomorrow is our first Choir 17 rehearsal woohoo! The sign up list is now closed, but if you are still interested in joining the choir – and if you haven’t already e-mailed me – please drop me a line and I will get back to you after the session to let you know about week 2 onward: it’s likely that spaces will free up. Only a few spaces left…

Woohoo!  The week of our first rehearsal is finally upon us – VERY exciting!  Around 65 people are now on the list, so allowing for a bit of give and take that will make for an absolutely BUZZING session.  If you haven’t signed up yet it’s important that you let me know you’re coming so that I can make sure there is space for everyone.  I’ll be limiting it at around 70 on the night, but may be able to open up more spaces for weeks 2 and 3.  Keep an eye on this page for further updates.  Can’t wait to get singing! Important information about the 1st rehearsal on Wed27th Sep

Only 3.5 weeks to go now until our first rehearsal and the great news is that over 50 people have now e-mailed me to say they would like to come along on the first evening. This is amazing, and it’s shaping up to be a fantastic night for our fledgling choir.  I’m checking with the venue about maximum numbers, but just to be sure – if you are definitely planning to come along (and haven’t already e-mailed me via the website form / other) then please e-mail me on rosie@choir17.co.uk and let me know, so I can make sure you are on the list. I’m hoping we won’t have to turn anyone away but just in case… Rosie xx

5 weeks to go and… Choir 17 featured in local press!

Exciting news on many fronts!  As well as there now only being five weeks to go until our first rehearsal on 27th September, we have also hit the local headlines!  The awesome Waltham Forest Guardian decided to run a feature on the Choir and talk about the many benefits of singing. 2 months to go…

The countdown continues to our first rehearsal at CentrE17 on Wed 27th September.  There’s been a lot of interest so far and the music is coming along a treat!  Can’t wait to get started and make some sweet, sweet music in Walthamstow.  Don’t forget to drop me a line via the join us page if you’re thinking of coming along.  Whoop!
